See crap for the crap it really is |

"The clearer you understand on the level of mind you can be described in negative terms only, the quicker will you come to the end of your search and realize that you are the limitless being"
I apologize for the harsh title, but its true
The sooner you see all this 'stuff' as temporary dross, the sooner you realize your very Self is the eternal gold
Reminds me of a Ramana quote, that i now forgot as soon as i remembered it!
Or Mooji's "Trading eternity for a peanut"
Bliss derived from a temporary object is not even a droplet of bliss compared to the ocean of bliss that is the Self

Nah, I don't buy it. He's not saying the mental level is crap; he's saying the mental level isn't what you are. There's nothing wrong with mind, and there's nothing wrong with thinking or thoughts. The only problem is when you identify with the thoughts and believe you're the thoughts. Mind is great. Illusion's the problem.

Yeah. He says that the mind can never tell you what you are, it can only tell you what you aren't. It's the 'if I can perceive it, then it isn't me' idea.

Well i take it that mind can only be described in negative terms like, its a limited part, its self deluding, its false, its parasitical in nature, and its smelly
Not that its an enemy, just that its only a temporary expression & never ever a definition

The mind has its uses which are positive. The limited and illusory self-image isn't one of those positive uses. Nisargadatta talks about both its limitations and its proper function. But it's not just the Indians who talk like that. I'm checking out Scott Kiloby's stuff these days, and he's very clear that it's a mistake to vilify the mind. And unlike a lot of teachers, he even thinks that it isn't very important to calm or quiet the mind - he's more about just watching what mind produces in the field of spacious awareness. Keep that as the focus of attention, and mind is no problem at all.
